MPREC was recently awarded funding through the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage's Our Place Program. Seven projects will be delivered in partnership with a number of community organisations throughout Western NSW.
The Our Place Program encourages local groups such as community organisations, councils, volunteer networks and schools to engage their communities in environmental issues relevant in their local area. MPREC has worked with over 14 partner organisations to develop and secure funding for these projects, which will add environmental, employment and community benefits to the region.
The funding will assist a range of projects, including riparian plantings in Dubbo, community gardens in Brewarrina, women’s weaving in Warren, native nurseries in Condobolin and Cobar, as well as the Walgett Honey Bee and Pilliga Walkway.
Partner organisations include the Brewarrina Local Aboriginal Land Council, Cobar Shire Council, Cobar Local Aboriginal Land Council, Joblink Plus, Narrabri Shire Council, NSW Aboriginal Land Council, Riversmart, Taronga Western Plains Zoo, Walgett PCYC, Walgett Shire Council, NSW Department Primary Industries, Warren Local Aboriginal Land Council, Waste Aid and Wiradjuri Condobolin Corporation Ltd.
