Over the course of the training, which ran from late April to early June, the participants learnt how to create a variety of floral displays including wedding bouquets, funeral wreaths and sheaths, office presentation vases and more.
Each participant enjoyed it so much that the group intends to incorporate more floristry activities going forward.
The skills were then taken to Brewarrina, where the Activity Supervisors and Cultural Arts Activities participants swapped ideas and skills.
The Brewarrina group have been getting great feedback on their string orbs, perfected over Easter so after ‘a few fails’, the Bourke ladies had learnt the tricks of orb creation and then embellished these with their new floristry skills - adding flowers, LED candles, letters and ribbon.

The result is a true hybrid of the skills and creativity of both groups.
We can’t wait to see what Pinterest-worthy project they come up with next.
